Cheeseburger Bread Boat

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • ½ pound grated cheddar cheese
  • 4 sandwich rolls
  • salt and pepper to taste

For the burger dipping sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar or rice/white wine/red wine
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons dill relish
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Set up griddle/grill/pan for medium heat.
  • Slice the sandwich rolls in half and remove most of the inside bread.
  • Place a layer of cheese inside the bread boat and then stuff with the ground beef. Flatten the beef to be just above the lip of the bread. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Spread out a thin layer of oil and place the stuffed bread boat, face down on the cooking surface. Cook for 3 - 5 minutes or until the ground beef is well caramelized.
  • Carefully, flip the bread boat over and top with some more cheese. Cover and cook for another 2 - 3 minutes or until the top layer of cheese has melted.
  • Remove from heat, slice and serve with the burger sauce.

For the burger dipping sauce

  • combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix to combine.
