For the bacon fat washed bourbon
- 750 ml bottle of bourbon see notes for recommendations
- 1 ounces bacon fat About 4 pieces of bacon should do it. Stain the fat.
For the maple bacon old fashioned
- 2 ounces bacon fat washed bourbon
- 1/4 ounce maple syrup
For the bacon fat washed bourbon
Fry up at least 4 pieces of bacon. Strain the fat. Then, in a separate container (ex: 32 ounces mason jar) combine the bourbon and warm bacon fat. Seal and gently shake to combine. Set out at room temperature for 24 hours.
The next day, place the jar in the freezer for a couple of hours to solidify the fat. Then strain 1-2 times through a coffee filter and pour back into the original bourbon bottle. Label so that you don't get it confused.
