Maple Bacon Old Fashioned
Bacon fat washed bourbon is the key to this drink.

Ingredients
For the bacon fat washed bourbon
- 750 ml bottle of bourbon see notes for recommendations
- 1 ounces bacon fat About 4 pieces of bacon should do it. Stain the fat.
For the maple bacon old fashioned
- 2 ounces bacon fat washed bourbon
- 1/4 ounce maple syrup
Instructions
For the bacon fat washed bourbon
- Fry up at least 4 pieces of bacon. Strain the fat. Then, in a separate container (ex: 32 ounces mason jar) combine the bourbon and warm bacon fat. Seal and gently shake to combine. Set out at room temperature for 24 hours.
- The next day, place the jar in the freezer for a couple of hours to solidify the fat. Then strain 1-2 times through a coffee filter and pour back into the original bourbon bottle. Label so that you don't get it confused.
For the maple bacon old fashioned.
- Combine the bourbon and maple syrup in a glass and stir to combine. Add ice and stir a couple more times. Serve with a piece of bacon for the full effect.
