Hot Honey Garlic Shrimp
Get ready to embrace the irresistible combination of sweet and heat with this hot honey garlic shrimp recipe. Not only does it taste amazing, it’s also a quick meal that can be done in under 30 minutes. And this could be served as an appetizer or over rice and make it a full meal.
Each plump shrimp is coated in a spicy honey and aromatic garlic & ginger sauce. It’s a little sticky and sweet treat for your taste buds. I made these on the grill but this recipe works just as well on an indoor cooktop. And even better, these work well for a quick meal or a special occasion.
Equipment/Ingredient Recommendations
- Carbon Steel Skillet – This pan has become a real workhorse in my kitchen. All the benefits of cast iron but more convenient.
- Quaility Honey – This stuff rocks and beats any honey you can get at the grocery store.
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce – It’s kinda crazy how salty soy sauce can be. This is always my go to soy sauce.
Pro Tips – Honey Hot Garlic Shrimp
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times on this blog. The fewer the ingredients the more the technique matters. Here are some tips to get the most out of this recipe.
- Pat the shrimp dry – Wet shrimp will not get you a good sear. Pat them dry before seasoning and putting them to the heat.
- Shrimp cook quickly – Depending on the size of the shrimp they will cook in about 5 minutes. Anything more and you will have little rubber hooks to eat instead of nice plump shrimp.
- Don’t burn the sauce – Have all the ingredients ready to go before cooking. The sauce has quite a bit of sugar and you definitely don’t want to burn it.
